Wednesday, October 26, 2005 Companies honored for integrity, trustworthiness
The Better Business Bureau recently honored several local businesses and nonprofit organizations for their commitment to integrity, trust, fair play, honest competition and truth in advertising. The Better Business Bureau celebrated the winners, honorable mentions and finalists of the Bureau's 2005 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics recently at a gala ceremony at Music Hall. Independent judges evaluated the applications based on eight judging criteria established by the Council of Better Business Bureaus and the International Torch Award Program. Finalists were chosen by the judges based on overall scores. The 2005 Torch Award winners and finalists are: Small Business Category (1 to 99 employees) Winners: Brooks & Sons Auto Service and RestorAid Disaster Restoration. Finalists: Borcherding and HHH Partners Inc. Medium Business Category (100 to 250 employees) Winner: Gilkey Window Co. Finalists: Gent Manufacturing and Natorp's. Larger Business Category (more than 250 employees) Winners: Rumpke and Total Quality Logistics Inc. Finalists: Bob Sumerel Tire Co. and Widmer's. Nonprofit Category, revenues under $1 million Winner: Cincinnati Works. Nonprofit Category, Revenues over $1 million Winner: Crayons to Computers.
